Puff Pastry Cheese Straws


  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 tablespoons Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon Italian herbs, optional

Cooking Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3: Roll the puff pastry on a floured kitchen surface to a 1/8-inch thick rectangle.

Step 4: Brush the puff pastry with an egg.

Step 5: Spread the Parmesan on one half of the pastry.  Sprinkle the Italian herbs (if using).

Step 6: Fold the uncovered piece of puff pastry over the cheese part.  Press to flatten.

Step 7: Roll the puff pastry again to 1/4-inch thick.

Step 8: Cut the pastry into 1/2-inch thick strands.  You can use a ruler or a cutting board to get them straight.

Step 9: Gently twist each strand (holding both ends) and place on a baking sheet.  Press the ends so the strands stay in place.

Step 10: Bake the cheese sticks for 12-14 minutes.  Serve as desired.
