Puff Pastry Dough


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup cold butter
  • 1/2 cup ice cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Cooking Instructions

Step 1: In a mixing blow, whisk together flour & salt.

Step 2: Add butter and coat it with the flour. Start stirring the butter with the flour and pressing gently until it is combined.  For this you can also use a butter cutter.

Step 3: Once you have a mixture that resembles breadcrumbs add ice cold water.

Step 4: Stir with a fork and then continue stirring with a spatula until the dough comes together.

Step 5: Dust the kitchen surface with four and place the dough on the flour.  Knead a few times until it comes together.

Step 6: Shape the dough into a square and roll out to a rectangle, about 7×12 inches long.  Bring the edges toward the center and fold over each other.

Step 7: Roll the dough again in the rectangle and bring the edges together again.  Repeat rolling and folding the dough for another 5-6 times.

Step 8: Wrap the dough and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.

Step 9: To bake, roll the dough into a 1/4-inch thick square.  Cut the dough into squares.

Step 10: Brush each square with egg wash and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F.  Serve as desired.
