- - FOR THE BUTTERSCOTCH SYRUP -
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- - FOR THE COCKTAIL -
- 1 ounce whiskey
- 1 1/2 ounces hazelnut liqueur (such as Frangelico)
- 1 1/2 teaspoon real maple syrup
- 4 ounces hot, strong coffee
- 2 ounces milk
- Butterscotch syrup
Step 1: For the Butterscotch Syrup: Heat cream, corn syrup, and salt in a medium saucepan until it just reaches the boiling point, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and add vanilla and butterscotch chips. Swirl pan to completely cover chips in liquid.
Step 2: Allow chips to sit in liquid, undisturbed and away from heat, for 5 minutes. Use a whisk to fully blend the melted chips and warm cream. Add syrup a squirt bottle or piping bag to more easily drizzle on drinks.
Step 3: For the Cocktail: Place whiskey, hazelnut liqueur and maple syrup in a large mug. Add the hot coffee and stir to combine.
Step 4: Froth the milk with a frother or French press. Spoon the frothed milk on top of the drink and finish with a drizzle of butterscotch syrup.
