Fresh Tomato Tart


  • 1 sheet of Puff Pastry
  • 1 tablespoon dijon-style mustard
  • Drizzle of maple syrup
  • 6 thinly sliced pieces of Swiss cheese
  • 3 roma tomatoes or any fresh garden variety
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Dash of salt & pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.  Roll out puff pastry sheet on a flour-dusted baking sheet.  With a fork, prick holes in the interior of the puff pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border without holes.

Step 2: Spread Dijon mustard and maple syrup on the interior portion.  Layer Swiss cheese overtop, placed sliced tomatoes, sprinkle with salt, pepper, sugar, and basil.

Step 3: Place assembled puff pastry into preheated oven, and cook until it starts to brown, roughly 10 to 13 minutes.

Step 4: Allow baked tart to cool for about 5 minutes, then cut, and serve.
