- - FOR THE APPLE CAKE -
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/3 cup oil
- 1 egg
- 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tablespoon white vinegar)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 1/2 cups chopped apples
- - FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR TOPPING -
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Step 1: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Step 2: Mix apple cake ingredients in order given, stirring until just combined.
Step 3: Pour batter into a buttered 9×13″ pan.
Step 4: Combine last 3 ingredients to make cinnamon sugar topping and spread it evenly over the batter.
Step 5: Bake for 45 minutes. Serve with honey butter or whipped cream, if desired.
