*Bacon Infused Vodka

Step 1: Begin by frying a few pieces of bacon. Enjoy eating the cooked bacon and reserve the fat for the infusion.

Step 2: Allow the bacon fat to cool for a few minutes.

Step 3: Fill a clean mason jar with vodka and add the bacon fat using the measurement recommendations above.

Step 4: Secure the lid on the jar and shake vigorously.

Step 5: Allow the jar to rest at room temperature for about 4 to 6 hours.

Step 6: Place the jar in the freezer for about 30 minutes until the bacon fat solidifies.  Freezing will make the fat easier to remove in the next step.  Don’t worry, the vodka will not freeze.

Step 7: Place cheesecloth or a coffee filter in a fine mesh strainer resting on top of a clean jar or bowl and slowly pour the infused vodka into the filter.  All of the bacon fat should be caught in the filter and if some goes through, repeat this step until your vodka is clean.

Step 8: Transfer the bacon-infused vodka into a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid.  You can also use a funnel to transfer it back into the original vodka bottle.

Step 9: Label the bottle as “Bacon Vodka” (so there are no surprises) and store it as you would any other vodka.
