Cooking Instructions
Before You Start: The streusel can be made up ahead of time and frozen. It will make more than you need for this recipe. Another great idea is to use a couple different kinds of baking apples, as they will each lend their own flavors and nuances to the dish.
Step 1: For the Streusel: In a large bowl, combine the streusel topping ingredients. Crumble together until well combined. Set aside.
Step 2: For the Apple Crisp: In another bowl, combine apple mixture ingredients.
Step 3: Pour the apple mixture into a greased 8-inch-square baking dish. Top with a generous amount of the streusel topping. Place on the wire rack set on position 2. (If you are cooking in a conventional oven, place the prepared baking dish on the lowest rack.)
Step 4: Turn on the convection steam oven by selecting Auto Steam Bake Mode set to 345 degrees F. (If you are cooking in a conventional oven, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.)
Step 5: Bake until golden brown & bubbly, approximately 45 minutes. (If you are cooking in a conventional oven, bake for 35 minutes then check again every 5-8 minutes until golden brown & bubble).
